Pennsylvania Ballet Soloist Stars in Dance Theatre of PA’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”
A Midsummer Night's Dream has special meaning for Lauren
Fadeley, a Pennsylvania Ballet soloist starring in Dance Theatre of
Pennsylvania's production of the two-act ballet on Sunday, April 22 at Central
Bucks High School South in Warrington.
She was 11 years old when she saw
the renowned New York City Ballet perform the ballet.
“I just fell in love with it,”
Fadeley said. “From the music to the story and costumes, it's just such a
wonderful ballet.”
Five years later, after studying
at the prestigious School of American Ballet in New York, Fadeley was hired as an
apprentice for the New York City Ballet and cast as an understudy in A Midsummer

A Midsummer Night’s Dream coming to Central Bucks South High School
Dance
Theatre of Pennsylvania will present an encore performance of “A Midsummer
Night’s Dream” on April 22 at noon and 4 p.m. at Central Bucks High School
South in Warrington, Bucks County.
Among
the featured artists are Pennsylvania Ballet soloists Lauren Fadeley and James
Ihde. Fadeley danced the lead role of Odette/Odile in the Pennsylvania Ballet’s
2011 production of “Swan Lake” and was one of 14 members of the company to
perform in the hit movie “Black Swan.” Ihde, who has performed many times with
Dance Theatre, appeared in the Doylestown company’s premiere of A Midsummer
Night’s Dream in 2004.

Going strong after 30 years, Dance Theatre of Pennsylvania Returns with The Nutcracker
In 1980, former Pennsylvania
Ballet dancer Marilyn Budzynski decided to stage her own version of Tchaikovsky’s
“The Nutcracker,” with new choreography from start to finish.
More than 100 performances later, her
production of the holiday classic is still going strong, with the
Doylestown-based ballet company she founded, Dance Theatre of Pennsylvania,
returning to Central Bucks High School South with four shows.
After a sold-out run last year, Dance
Theatre will present its 31st season of the Nutcracker at Central
Bucks South on Saturday, Dec. 17 and Sunday, Dec. 18. Tickets start at $15 and
can be purchased at www.dtopa.org.
No other ballet company in Bucks or
Montgomery counties has staged The Nutcracker longer than ...

Dance Theatre of Pennsylvania returns with “Coppelia”
Dance Theatre of Pennsylvania will perform an
encore production of the full-length ballet “Coppelia” at 3 p.m. on June 11 and
12 at the Mitchell Performing Arts Center in Bryn Athyn, Montgomery County.
The
Doylestown-based ballet company will feature the dancing of Alexandra Kochis
and Christopher Budzynski, principals with the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre. The
couple will return for the second year in the lead roles of Swanilda and her
suitor Frantz.
This
is the sixth year that Kochis and Budzynskihave performed with Dance Theatre.
They danced the lead roles in the company’s previous productions of “Sleeping
Beauty” and “Cinderella.” As a young dancer, Budzynski, a Bucks County native,

“The Nutcracker” tradition
The holiday season is not complete without annual traditions
such as chestnuts roasting over a fire, caroling, decking the halls and of course,
the ballet “The Nutcracker.” With an area as artistic and diverse as Bucks
County, it’s only fitting that numerous yuletide productions are devoted to the
two-act ballet, adapted from E.T.A. Hoffman’s The Nutcracker and the Mouse
King” with a memorable musical score by Russian composer Pyotr Tchaikovsky. The
seasonal favorite tells the tale of a young girl, Clara, who receives a

Dance Theatre of Pennsylvania brings ‘Coppelia’ to life
The doll may or may not come to life, but the dancers sure do in Dance Theatre
of Pennsylvania’s lively production of “Coppelia.” The Doylestown-based company
stages the classic ballet comedy in Bryn Athyn on May 22 and 23.
Marilyn Budzynski, a former dancer with Pennsylvania Ballet, is the artistic
director for the company. This will be the fourth time they’ve staged
“Coppelia” since 1980. She loves this ballet the most.
“It’s kind of like an old friend,” she said. “I enjoy stories that center
around hilarious characters and misunderstanding.”
“Coppelia,” a classic first performed in 1870, is set in a village that houses

For the fifth year in a row, Alexandra Kochis
and Christopher Budzynski, principals of Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, will
perform the lead roles in Dance Theatre of Pennsylvania’s spring production.
This year, the Doylestown-based ballet company will stage the classic ballet
