About Dance Theatre of Pennsylvania
Dance Theatre of Pennsylvania is a not-for-profit, regional ballet company that was formed in 1978 by Marilyn Budzynski.
The Company is based in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, and serves Bucks County and the surrounding area.
Our mission is to provide valuable, pre-professional stage experience
for dancers, and equally important, to offer affordable, quality dance
performances to our community.
Marilyn Budzynski, formerly with the Pennsylvania Ballet and the New
York City Ballet Repertoire, serves as the Company's Artistic Director
and Choreographer. Ms. Budzynski brings skill and depth of experience
to her dual responsibilities as Artistic Director and supervisor of the
dancers' development.
The Company consists of approximately forty dancers ranging in
age from
ten to adult. Open auditions for Company membership are held every
September. In addition, Dance Theatre
regularly sponsors master classes
which are given by world- renowned dancers, choreographers, and teachers.
Dance Theatre has produced many aspiring professional dancers
continuing their careers through dance organizations of worldwide
acclaim. These include Pittsburgh Ballet, Nashville Ballet, Utah
Ballet, Boston Ballet, Joffrey Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet, North
Carolina School of the Arts, and the School of American Ballet.
Nowhere in the Bucks-Mont area can finer preparation for professional careers in dance be found.
